Michael Sparks, MD
Dr. Michael Sparks, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician based in Sanford, Florida. A native Floridian, Dr. Sparks grew up in the Tampa area before moving to Orlando to pursue his undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Biology with a minor in Health Sciences. He then went on to attend Ross University School of Medicine, graduating with high honors.
Dr. Sparks completed his Family Medicine Residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. During his residency, he developed a keen interest in point-of-care ultrasound, particularly for diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal issues, amongst others, directly in the clinic.
Passionate about providing personalized care, Dr. Sparks embraced the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model early in his career. This approach allows him to focus on building strong relationships with his patients by eliminating the traditional insurance constraints.
Dr. Sparks also has a passion for medical education. Through his practice he helps to teach pre-medical students, medical students, and family medicine residents not only family medicine but also the benefits of direct primary care for both patients and physicians. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine for the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Sparks enjoys spending time with his family, including his daughter, wife, and two puppies. You might find him running or watching soccer and hockey.
